Difficult though it seems
Like a phoenix you can rise again From ashes to dreams"

The Plot

From Ashes to Dreams is a beautiful title that describes the story of a girl Naina. The book revolves around the life of Naina along with her childhood friends, Raghav and Kusum. Naina along with Raghav and Kusum has been brought up in an orphanage. Being around the same age, Naina, Raghav, and Kusum bonded and confided in each other more than anyone else at the orphanage. In the orphanage, the orphans are loved by Shanti Amma, who runs the orphanage.
As an orphan, Naina did not have much to look forward to in life but when she falls in love, everything changes for her! Love made her feel light and she gave her everything to be in love and to feel loved only to realize that nothing is meant to be forever.
She tries to put an end to her existence but does not succeed. She comes to know that she had limited time to live and this fact changes her perspective towards life.
Will she ever able to handle her loss? Will she start living life rather than disregarding it? Will fate respect her fortitude? For this, you will have to grab the book and read it for yourself.

What I liked about the book

The book is about Naina who has always lived under the shadows of other people and with people who always have protected her. The book is about her journey from a protected and loved girl to an independent woman. The way the author describes this process in the book is worth appreciating. You witness Naina growing as a character and that character development and growth is a great thing to witness. The character of Raghav is among my favorites though it is not the main character. The sincerity of the character can be seen throughout the book.

Some description about Raghav that may be considered as a Spoiler so beware before reading the next few sentences. Raghav is low key in love with Naina and even after realizing she doesn't reciprocate his feelings and is in love with someone else, he continues to take care of her as he used to till the end of the story.

The book is about falling prey to insecurities and high expectations and then standing up tall against them. The book is an inspirational read that motivates you to live your life to the fullest and never take any moment for granted.

P.S: I don't need to mention that the cover art and the name of the book itself are amazing!

What I did not like about the book

The book though is inspirational and motivating but the easy redemption of Kusum still doesn't feel fine to me. Kusum acts like an ass to Naina throughout the story and still, Naina wants her to be in her life. Through her process of growth, she misses Kusum once in a while that does not go well for me.
The act Kusum plays and the things she does are easily forgiven though they should not have been from my point of view.
The second thing that I didn't like was the overly exaggerated portrayal of love at first sight. Though I don't believe in the idea of love, at first sight, I don't despise it as well. But with this book, it was different. The book links it with god conspiring them to be together and that they belong together to serve a purpose in life and that to me is over exaggeration of the idea of "Love at first sight".

Another thing that hindered my reading a bit was some amount of repetitiveness of sentences and explanation of situations over and over again.

Conclusion

After keeping the pros and cons in mind, From Ashes to Dreams is actually a book you can pick and derive inspiration from. Being a fiction it keeps you involved and motivates you at the same time. Apart from the repetitiveness and "ideal friend ideology", it is a good read and worth keeping on your bookshelves.
